How to list Handmade vs. Digital products?

Overview

Lovecraftify allows sellers to list Handmade (physical) and Digital products using the same product form, with a few key differences in shipping, files, and options.

This guide walks you through step by step, exactly as shown in the dashboard.

1. Go to Add New Product

From your account menu, follow this path:

My Account → Vendor Dashboard → Products → Add New Product

You will be taken to the Add New Product page.

2. Basic Product Information

Step 2.1 – Product Title

• Enter a clear, descriptive product name
• Example (Handmade):
  Personalized Crochet Doll – Custom Name Gift
• Example (Digital):
  Printable Wall Art – Boho Nursery PDF

Step 2.2 – Product Type

Choose the correct product type:

• Simple / Variable → for most Handmade & POD products
• Digital → for downloadable files (PDF, PNG, SVG, ZIP…)

👉 If your product has options like size or color, choose Variable.

Step 2.3 – Category, Brand & Tags

• Select the most relevant Category
• Add Brand (optional)
• Add Tags to help buyers search your product

3. Product Images

• Upload a cover image (main image buyers see)
• Add additional images showing:
  • Details
  • Variations (colors, sizes)
  • Personalization examples (if applicable)

📌 Tip: Use real photos for handmade items whenever possible.

4. Description

Use the description editor to explain:

• What the product is
• Materials (for handmade)
• What’s included (for digital)
• Processing time or file format
• How personalization works (if any)

5. Inventory (SKU & Stock)

In the Inventory section:

• Add a SKU (optional but recommended)
• Enable stock management if you have limited quantity
• For digital products, stock management is usually not required

6. Add-ons – Personalization & Custom Options ⭐ (Very Important)

The Add-ons section lets you create custom fields for buyers, similar to Etsy personalization.

Step 6.1 – Click Add Field

You can create options such as:

Common Add-on Types

• Short Text → Name, date, message
• Long Text → Custom instructions
• File Upload → Buyer uploads image/logo
• Multiple Choice / Checkboxes → Style options
• Customer Defined Price → Tips or upgrades

Example:

• Field title: Personalize
• Type: Short Text
• Required field: ✅
• Description: Enter the name exactly as you want it printed.

👉 This is perfect for custom handmade & POD products.

7. Shipping & Tax (Handmade / Physical Products Only)

For Handmade or POD products:

• Check This product requires shipping
• Enter:
  • Weight
  • Length / Width / Height
• Select Shipping Class
• Set Tax Status if applicable

❌ Digital products do not require shipping.

8. Attributes & Variations

Use this section if your product has options like Color, Size, Material.

Example: Color Variations

• Attribute name: Color
• Values: Black | White | Beige
• Check:
  • ✅ Visible on product page
  • ✅ Used for variations
• Click Save Attribute

You can then create variations with:

• Different prices
• Different images
• Different stock

This works very similar to WooCommerce variations.

9. Digital Products – Upload Files

For Digital products:

• Upload files in supported formats (PDF, PNG, SVG, ZIP…)
• Files will be delivered automatically after purchase
• No shipping or physical handling required

📌 Digital products are typically non-returnable once delivered.

10. Final Settings & Publish

Before saving:

• Set Product Status → Online
• Visibility → Visible
• Enable product reviews (optional)
• Add a Purchase Note if needed

Finally, click Save Product 🎉
