1Overview

On Lovecraftify, shipping fees are calculated using Shipping Classes. This system gives sellers full control over how shipping costs are applied, without forcing weight-based rules.

Each product must be assigned to one Shipping Class. The final shipping fee is calculated based on the class cost you define in your Shipping Method.

2Shipping Classes Used on Lovecraftify

Shipping Class Intended Use
Ultra Light Item Very small, lightweight items (stickers, small badges, patches)
Light Item Small handmade items, light accessories
Standard Item Most regular products
Heavy Item Metal products, thick materials, larger sizes
Extra Heavy / Oversized Item Large, bulky, or oversized products

Each class represents a different product group based on size, weight, and shipping cost.

3Shipping Class Cost — What It Means

The Shipping Class Cost is the shipping fee applied per product, based on its assigned class.

This cost is automatically added to the order when a customer checks out.

4How to Enter Shipping Class Cost

You can enter a fixed number or use formulas:

  • 5 → Flat $5 shipping for that class
  • 5 * [qty] → $5 per item
  • 10 + 2 * [qty] → $10 base + $2 per item

5Calculation Type (Important)

Recommended setting:

Per class: Charge shipping for each shipping class individually

This means:

  • If an order contains products from multiple shipping classes, each class fee will be added.
  • Shipping is calculated fairly and transparently.
Tip: This setting is best for multi-vendor marketplaces and mixed-cart orders.

6Recommended Best Practice for Sellers

  • Always assign a Shipping Class to every product
  • Keep the base Cost of the shipping method set to 0
  • Control shipping fees only via Shipping Class Cost to avoid double charges

Order contains:

  • 1 × Ultra Light Item ($3 shipping)
  • 1 × Heavy Item ($12 shipping)

Total shipping fee: $15
